What Is a 360 Feedback Tool?

A 360 feedback tool is software that collects structured feedback about one person from the people around them — their manager, peers, direct reports, and a self-assessment — and turns the answers into a report. Unlike a top-down performance review, it shows how someone is experienced by everyone they work with, including the gap between how they see themselves and how others see them.

360Feedbacks automates the whole cycle: you create the evaluation, invite raters by email, we send the surveys and reminders, and a PDF report is generated when responses are in.

What's Included in the Free 360 Evaluation

How the Free 360 Feedback Tool Works

1. Create the evaluation

Register, name the leader being evaluated, set a deadline, and pick a question template (a default leadership template is preselected). Most people finish setup in a few minutes. For ideas on what to ask, see our 360 feedback question library.

2. Invite raters

Add raters by email and assign each one a group: manager, peer, direct report, or self. For honest, anonymous results, aim for at least 3 peers and 3 direct reports.

3. Collect responses

Raters answer rating questions on a 1–5 scale plus a few open-ended questions. Reminders go out automatically, so you don't have to chase anyone. Most evaluations close in 5 to 7 days.

4. Get the report

The PDF report compares self-ratings with each rater group, highlights blind spots (where the leader rates themselves higher than others do) and hidden strengths (the opposite), summarizes comments by theme, and proposes development priorities.

Who It's For

  • Small and mid-sized companies (roughly 5–50 leaders) that want a professional 360 without an enterprise contract
  • HR managers running their first 360 cycle
  • Leadership coaches running 360s for individual clients
  • Founders and team leads who want structured, anonymous upward feedback

Free 360 Feedback Options Compared

"Free" means very different things across tools. Here is what you actually get, based on each vendor's published information as of October 2026:

OptionWhat’s freeAnonymity by rater group360 reportAfter the free part
360Feedbacks1 complete 360 (1 leader, unlimited raters)Yes, minimum 3 per groupYes, automated PDF$59–$99 per leader, one-time
Google Forms (DIY)Unlimited forms and responsesManual: you must set it up and protect small groups yourselfNo — you build charts in SheetsFree, but hours of manual work per person
SurveyMonkey BasicSurveys of up to 10 questions, capped responsesNot built for rater groupsNo 360 reportPaid plans for longer surveys and exports
SpidergapOne free trial assessmentYesYesFrom $1,099 per year for 10 recipients
When a free form is enough — and when it isn’t
A Google Form works for an informal pulse with a few close colleagues. It falls short when anonymity matters (small groups make answers identifiable), when you need self-vs-others comparisons, or when you run 360s for more than one or two people.

What Happens After the Free Evaluation?

Nothing, unless you want more. There is no subscription and no auto-renewal. If you need additional 360s, you buy them per leader evaluated: $99 per leader for teams of up to 10 leaders, $79 for up to 25, and $59 for more than 25. See pricing and 360 feedback cost benchmarks.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is there really a free 360 feedback tool?

Yes. 360Feedbacks includes one complete 360 evaluation for one leader at no cost — surveys, reminders, and the full PDF report. No credit card is required and nothing renews automatically.

How many raters can I invite to the free evaluation?

There is no limit on raters. A typical 360 uses the manager, 3–5 peers, 2–5 direct reports, and a self-assessment.

Is the feedback anonymous?

Yes. Individual answers are never shown. Results for a rater group appear only when at least 3 people in that group responded; the manager’s and self-assessment ratings are the usual exceptions, since they come from one known person.

Do raters need an account?

No. Each rater receives a unique link by email and answers without registering.

Can I run the 360 in Spanish?

Yes. Surveys and reports are available in English and Spanish, which helps bilingual teams.

What if I need more than one free evaluation?

Additional evaluations are paid per leader, one-time: $99, $79, or $59 per leader depending on how many leaders you evaluate.
